She has over 26 years of experience in teacher training in Special Needs Education. She has authored, co-authored and edited several training modules for training Diploma in Special Needs Education through distance learning. She has also published some articles on Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in a refereed journal.

She has held different leadership positions in the Institute. She holds a PhD in Education - Special Needs Education from Kenyatta University, a master’s degree in Professional Studies - Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties from the University of Birmingham, UK, a BA degree in Economics and Education from the University of Lucknow, India and a post graduate Diploma in Mental Retardation from the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped- Secunderabad, India besides other management and leadership courses. She has also  done a Senior Management Course (SMC) and Strategic Leadership Development Course (SLDP) at the Kenya School of Government.
